Austin Community College District (ACC) welcomed 94 Riverbats to new positions for the fall 2026 semester. 

On Monday, August 17, the new faculty attended a special orientation at Highland Campus. The group included:

  • 87 new full-time faculty
  • 36 were external hires/rehires
  • 31 were adjuncts who moved to full-time faculty positions
  • 15 were temporary hires who moved to full-time faculty positions
  • 3 were in non-teaching positions as internal hires (staff/hourly)
  • 2 were full-time faculty who moved to new departments

The orientation featured morning presentations by a range of ACC offices, including updates from the Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs, Dr. Gaye Lynn Scott, a series of roundtable discussions from the Office of Environmental Health & Safety, the Ombudsperson, the College’s Basic Needs team, and more.

Participants also attended a resource fair to get to know more about College programs and employee groups like the Ambassadors of Joy and Zero Waste employee program. 

The event concluded with HR-supported sessions regarding the brass tacks of employment, such as contracts, compliance, and benefits.

The new faculty will start in their new roles for the fall 2026 semester, which begins Monday, August 24.
