Austin Community College District (ACC) is currently undergoing its market study review process to ensure the college is offering competitive salaries for non-faculty positions.
The process is conducted every other year as required by ACC’s board policy. ACC’s Compensation Team leads the process, which is done in the spring so that any compensation changes can be included in the budget process for the next fiscal year.
“Our non-faculty market study is for classified, professional-technical, and administrator positions. While there’s no guarantee that jobs are going to change, we will present any recommendations we find to the board at their June work session,” says Dana Tucker, ACC Compensation Manager.
The Compensation Team is tasked with reviewing 564 different job descriptions in the college and comparing them to job descriptions in the local market and at colleges and universities.
Market Study Review Committee
A market study review committee was established for the purposes of transparency and feedback. The committee reviews the data from the Compensation Team to make sure that at least 80 percent of the job functions match.
The committee meets five times during the spring semester and is comprised of 12 ACC employees:
- Four Classified Employees Association (CEA) members: Eli Arzate, Matt Campbell, Miguel DeLeon, Bernie Hinterlong
- Four Association of Professional-Technical Employees (APTE) members: Toru Bennette, Pamela Chukwuneke, Eileen Eiden, Lauren Sebel
- Four administrators appointed by the chancellor: Shasta Buchanan, Aziz Hussaini, Mike Midgley, Neil Vickers
Market Study Review Process Next Steps
The Compensation Team will present its final recommendations to the committee, the Chancellor’s Cabinet, and the Board of Trustees in June.
