ACC at SXSWedu
SXSWedu, which takes place March 7-10, fosters innovation and learning within the education industry.

On Thursday, March 10, ACC Provost, Dr. Monique Umphrey, presented a conversation on “Reimagining the Learn-to-Work Ecosystem Centering Equity” with Amy Lloyd of the U.S. Department of Education. The event was hosted by JFF (Jobs for the Future) as part of The Future of Work and Education series at SXSWedu. The conversation examined how learning and work come together and asks “If the next five years go well for learners and worker opportunity, what will the landscape look like?”

Travis Early College High School student Gesenia Alvarez and Northeast Early College High School 2021 graduate and current ACC student John-Mark Wesley Hunter participated in a SXSWedu keynote session, “Reimagining Education with Students at the Center,” with U.S. Secretary of Education Dr. Miguel Cardona.

Melaina Wilkin, Continuing Education Workforce program associate, was a panelist in a March 10 session, “Connecting Students to the Trade Industry,” about connecting youth to the trades industry, especially through the non-credit/degree route.
