Welcome to General Assembly 2026—our signature annual event where the entire, todos, Austin Community College District connects, recharges, and looks to the horizon.
This year’s theme, “A Reimagined ACC: Building for What’s Next,” challenges us to think bigger, adapt faster, and design an even stronger future for our students and community.
The Details:
- Date: Friday, September 25, 2026
- Time: 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
- Location: ACC Highland Campus (HLC) & Streaming Virtually
- Attendance: General Assembly is an official workday (all classes and offices are closed for the day), allowing all employees to engage and connect to our shared purpose and goals. All full-time staffing table employees scheduled to work during the time of the event are required to attend. The event is optional for adjunct faculty. Part-time and hourly employees who are usually scheduled to work during the time of the event should consult with their supervisors to determine the most appropriate plan for participation.

Get Ready: Ways to Get Involved at General Assembly
This year, General Assembly offers several ways to get involved.
Join the Resource Fair
The Resource Fair is your platform to share your team’s services, tools and resources, and accomplishments. There are both virtual and in-person resource fair options. Space is limited. Apply early! Applications are due September 9. Click to apply for the Resource Fair.
- In-Person Resource Fair @ Highland Campus: Show off your work live! Applicants are encouraged to incorporate interactive elements—such as digital displays, hands-on activities, or QR codes linking directly to key online resources.
- Virtual Resource Fair: Connect with colleagues online by creating a Google Drive folder titled with your area, office, or program name and uploading your key promotional or informational materials. Your folder will act as your virtual table, accessible to attendees throughout the event.
Donate to the ACC Swag Swap
The College will host a special ACC swag swap. Show Your Riverbat Pride: Vintage ACC T-Shirt Drive is a chance for all Riverbats to clean out their closets and share the Riverbat love.
First, the College is collecting vintage, laundered ACC T-shirts to help everyone gear up. You can donate items now through September 20 by Intercampus Mail to the ACC Surplus Free Store or at the Truth, Community Healing & Transformation Center in ACC Highland, Building 4000, Room 2205.
Then on General Assembly Day, stop by the Vintage Shirt Table at the Resource Fair to pick out your new shirt. For questions, please email [email protected].
The Experience: What to Expect at General Assembly
General Assembly is our day to connect with colleagues, hear about College priorities, and get on the same page about how we’ll support our students through collaboration and increased awareness about collegewide efforts. Employees are encouraged to attend in person. Some virtual exceptions can be requested for employees on official accommodations.
The day is designed to take us on a journey: from why we are doing this work, to how we will know it is making a difference, to the tools that can help us move the work forward.
We will begin with a student panel, grounding the day in the experiences and perspectives of the students we are here to serve. Their voices will provide the context for everything that follows.
From there, the program moves through three connected topics. The sequence is intentional:
Resource Fair + Breakfast | 8 - 9 a.m.
The day begins with a special Employee Resource Fair starting at 8 a.m. in ACC Highland, Building 1000. Discover services, tools, and resources available to you across the College.
A light continental breakfast will also be available in both Building 1000 and 2000 for in-person attendees.
Keynote & Student Panel with Russell | 9 - 10:30 a.m.
Russell shares his preview for the year ahead and sits down with a student panel. We’ll hear straight from our students about their journeys at ACC.
ACC Talk: Theory of Change — What are we doing? | 10:30 - 11:30 a.m.
The Theory of Change is a significant body of work that involved many people across ACC. Our first phase was about listening, learning, designing, and identifying opportunities for institutional change. Now we’re entering a different phase. We’re moving from: What should we do? To: How do we put this work into practice, learn from it, and keep improving?
Lunch | 11:30 a.m. - 12:40 p.m.
Lunch begins at 11:30 a.m. Guests can select among a variety of food truck options. All vendors will set up in the ACC Highland Campus parking lot located at the East entrance of Building 1000. Vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options will be available. See the full list of vendors below:
- TacoMan 512 (food truck): 3 street tacos with choice of al pastor, chicken, or veggie. Served on gluten-free corn or flour tortillas, with rice, beans, and a drink.
- P.Terry’s (food truck): Burger with choice of beef or chicken. Served with chips and a drink.
- Jags BBQ (food truck): BBQ sandwich with choice of chopped brisket, pulled chicken breast, or vegan pulled pork. Served with chips and a drink.
- J’s Hibachi (food truck): Choice of grilled chicken breast or grilled steak. Served with rice, vegetables, and a drink.
- Hungry J’s Pizza (food truck): Choice of 2 slices of pizza or cheese steak sub. Served with chips and a drink.
- Jason’s Deli (boxed lunches): Choice of turkey, ham, chicken salad, or vegetarian. Served with chips and a dessert.
- Arpeggio Grill (boxed lunches): Choice of chicken shawarma, gyro, or falafel. Served with rice, Greek salad, hummus, and pita.
- Chick-fil-A (boxed lunches): Chick-fil-A sandwich. Served with waffle potato chips and a chocolate chunk cookie.
Across ACC, helpers and teachers work every day to make the student experience better. We’re redesigning, improving, and trying new approaches. But there’s one question we have to be able to answer: Is it working? That’s the purpose of the Institutional Effectiveness (IE) Report Card.
Nine metrics. 26 actions. One institutional story—building toward 2030.
We’ll explore what it means to be effective by knowing whether our work is making a difference, aligned by seeing how that work connects across ACC, and impactful by using what we learn to improve the student experience and advance student success.
ACC Talk: AI TRUST Framework — What tools can help us advance the work? |1:50 - 2:50 p.m.
AI is one set of tools we can use to support the changes identified through the Theory of Change and IE Report Card. We will learn about ACC’s AI TRUST Framework and reflect on how it can help us scale our efforts and go beyond what we can accomplish today.
Closing Remarks with Russell | 3 - 3:30 p.m.

- Carpooling: Do you need a ride to General Assembly? Or are you able to be a driver? Sign up through the ACC Carpool registration form.
- Public Transportation: ACC employees ride CapMetro for FREE with a Digital Green Pass.
- Rideshare: Drop-off is outside Highland Campus Buildings 2000 and 4000 on Wilhelmina Delco Drive. Look for signs as you arrive on campus.
