The Talk About It ACC program (formerly known as Bae-B-Safe) will officially conclude operations on December 31, 2025.
This decision follows the scheduled expiration of the grant from the St. David’s Foundation, which has generously funded the program for the past five years. With no additional funding opportunities available at this time to sustain operations, the program will sunset at the end of this calendar year.
Celebrating Five Years of Impact
Talk About It ACC has been a valued collaboration between Austin Community College and Healthy Futures of Texas, serving as an extension of their statewide Talk About It Campus Conversation initiative.
Since its inception in January 2020, the program has achieved significant milestones in supporting student wellness:
- Student Engagement: The program has engaged over 12,000 ACC students through training, peer discussions, and outreach events.
- Education: It has provided accurate, inclusive, and engaging sexual health education, equipping students with tools to make informed decisions.
- Culture Change: The initiative successfully helped normalize important conversations about health, relationships, and overall wellness on campus.
Transition Resources: Supporting Students Moving Forward
While the specific program is ending, ACC remains committed to student health. To ensure students continue to receive support during and after this transition:
- Referrals: Faculty and staff should refer students needing healthcare access, wellness guidance, or connection to community resources to the C.A.R.E. Network by submitting a referral.
- STI Testing: The team is currently communicating with Student Life to explore options for continuing STI testing opportunities at ACC campuses in the future.
Website Sunset
The Talk About It ACC internal website will also be sunsetted effective December 31. Faculty and staff are encouraged to remove links to the site from syllabi or internal resource lists before the start of the spring semester.
