Austin Community College District (ACC) approaches a major milestone in the Hays Campus expansion. The schematic design phase for the new academic building is scheduled for completion by early November, marking an important step forward in bringing expanded Health Sciences programs to the district’s south region.

Over the past several months, ACC faculty, staff, and partners have worked side-by-side with the project design team to shape plans for classrooms, labs, and student spaces that support hands-on learning and student success.

Next, the project team will continue refining lab equipment needs, gathering additional student input, and advancing design drawings in preparation for construction.

Construction is anticipated to begin in late May or early June 2026, starting with site work and the new Central Utility Plant that will serve the growing campus. Once complete, the expansion will accommodate more than 900 additional students and strengthen ACC’s ability to meet regional workforce needs in high-demand healthcare fields.
