ACC is upgrading its computer equipment. The college is deploying a new tool to remotely manage Windows devices. It’s called Workspace One (WS1). ACC’s Information Technology (IT) Department is asking all employees with Windows devices to sign up for an appointment on their campus to met with a team member and get WS1 installed on their device(s).

Starting Monday, February 5, IT technicians will be on all ACC campuses and centers to deploy WS1 on all college-issued Windows laptops. Employees with desktop computers must submit a Service Request. This can be scheduled at any time using the standard trouble ticket process.

Deployment dates range per campus and will be open from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. each day. See the full schedule below. Click on the “Schedule Appointment” link under your campus to sign up for a time slot.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Workspace One (WS1)?
WS1 is a tool used by ACC IT technicians to remotely manage Windows devices (called endpoints) and deploy software and security updates.

How will this benefit me?
IT technicians will now manage ACC-owned devices from a central console. In most cases, our technicians will assess devices from the console before physically touching them. This will provide a more efficient means to deliver the right applications, updates, security policies, and other resources to Windows devices connected to our secured network.

How will this affect me?
Remote deployments will decrease the time required to install new software on Windows devices. This decreases the time it takes for IT to respond to your needs and increases your ability to get the most from the devices you use.

ACC IT is currently focused on the deployment of Windows devices at this time. Apple devices are currently managed through JAMF.

Is there anything I can do to prepare my Windows laptop before the appointment?
Yes! Please make sure you have all of the latest Windows updates. If you are behind on your Windows updates, Workspace One might not install properly the first time. We would need to run the updates before we can begin, which will lengthen the time of your appointment. Click here for instructions on how check for Windows.

What about WS1 deployment outside of ACC IT-managed areas?
We are currently working with our domain admins to configure WS1 for areas managed by our IT partners. Once complete, IT partners will be trained and provided access to manage their own devices using WS1. ACC IT will also work alongside our IT Partners to put processes in place that improve efficiency for their respective areas.
