October is International Campus Sustainability Month. Austin Community College District’s (ACC) Energy & Sustainability Office invites students, staff, and faculty to celebrate with a series of events showcasing sustainability programs around the district.
Events include:
Fridays | Volunteer Fridays at the Farm
Every Friday, ACC’s Agricultural Sciences will open its gates from 9 a.m. to Noon on the student farm. Interested individuals can tour the farm and get their hands dirty with various volunteer tasks. Bring your ACC ID to join.
Monday, October 16 | Zero Waste Cooking Demo by the Culinary Arts Department
Join a lunchtime demo from 12:15 to 1 p.m. at ACC Highland Campus or virtually to learn three different recipes for using a whole chicken. An ACC chef will cook and share information on preventing waste in the kitchen, composting at ACC, and the benefits of shopping for local produce. Samples will be available at the end of the event.
Wednesday, October 18 | Tour the Rooftop Solar Array at the San Gabriel Campus
ACC’s Energy Conservation Manager will host a tour up on the roof of the San Gabriel Campus at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 18. Participants will learn more about solar and ACC’s commitment to renewable energy. You must be over 18 years of age and RSVP through the QR code above to attend.
Tuesday, October 24 | Tour the Rooftop Solar Array at the Highland Campus
