Safety and security for students, faculty, staff, and visitors remain a top priority at Austin Community College District (ACC). ACC practices emergency response procedures and tests its emergency notification system during the summer semester Emergency Preparedness Week which runs from Monday, June 12, through Friday, June 16.
Emergency Preparedness Week takes place during the third week of every semester. It is designed to help employees and students prepare for the best actions to take in the event of an emergency on campus or within the district.
During the week, ACC will test and practice its emergency response procedures with drills and test runs of the ACC Emergency Alert System districtwide. ACC will send messages and text alerts to all registered accounts and post alerts on the ACC homepage and social media.
The college encourages everyone to verify or update their contact information online to receive emergency notifications. Families and media also may register to receive alerts directly from the college.
HOW TO PREPARE
- View the ACC Emergency website for detailed information about various types of emergencies.
- Bookmark the page on your phone and computer.
- Get connected to ACC on social media. ACC emergency alerts and updates are available on Facebook and Twitter.
- Know the Emergency Egress Plans. Maps are posted on every campus and in classrooms to identify locations for emergency exits, rescue assistance, Automated External Defibrillators, shelter-in-place, and evacuation rally points.
