Sam Greer, ACC director of Experiential Learning, was honored by the YMCA of Austin with the 2020 Gerald T. Olson Distinguished Service Award. He is the president of the East Communities Branch board and also serves on the Metro board. Here is the video that was shown at the ceremony (Sam starts at 2:22): 

Dr. Gretchen Riehl, ACC associate vice president of Workforce Education, has been named to the Workforce Education Course Manual Advisory Committee at the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board. This group is responsible for making important course recommendations. It is a three-year term. 

ACC student Cole Doss took first place in the national League for Innovation literary competition. Cole is our “Innovate” winner in the short-story category of the Vision & Voice literary competition. You can read his story and more great work by other Innovate participants at

Riverside Campus Faculty Librarian Jorge López-McKnight, has been invited to serve as 2021-2022 vice chair for the Inclusive Pedagogy Committee, which is part of the ALA Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL) Instruction Section (IS). The IS is one of 15 ACRL sections and consists of 20 different prestigious committees. The Inclusive Pedagogy Committee focuses on creating engaging and meaningful opportunities for librarians who teach Information Literacy to learn more about inclusive, anti-oppressive pedagogies, and how to apply these teaching practices and strategies to their specific academic environments.
