ACC’s Office of Institutional Research & Analytics (OIRA) kicked off the Data Deep Dive series on Tuesday, April 9. The first webinar in the series discussed ACC’s North Star — a 70 percent student completion rate by 2030.

More than 400 employees joined the webinar and asked over 100 questions in the live Q&A.

About the North Star

As part of ACC’s new Theory of Change, the college aims to reach a 70 percent completion rate by 2030 — our new North Star. The college’s current completion rate is 46 percent. The figure represents completions for first-time-in-college (FTIC) students who graduate, complete an award, or transfer to another institution of higher education within three years.

Some of the key takeaways shared during the session include:

  • Full-time students have a higher completion rate than part-time students, 56% compared to 40%.
  • Historically, ACC focused on the full-time student graduation rate tracked by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB).
  • The THECB rate has a less inclusive focus as it only considers full-time students and only includes degrees and certificates.
  • There are institutional gaps in completion rates among race and ethnicity groups, but female and male students have similar completion rates.
  • ACC has seen a dramatic increase in THECB graduation rate from 7% for the 2015 FTIC cohort to 22% for the 2020 FTIC cohort.
  • Median wages for ACC graduates have increased over time at one-year, three-years, and five-years post-completion.
