More than 250 people turned out to bid farewell to Austin Community College District (ACC) Chancellor Dr. Richard M. Rhodes ahead of the regular board meeting on Monday, September 18. The ACC Board of Trustees held a special reception to honor his legacy.

Several current and former board members attended and spoke about his impact on ACC and higher education. Other attendees include local ISD leaders, ACC administration, faculty and staff, industry partners, and the community.

During the meeting, trustees approved two items to honor Dr. Rhodes, including naming the ACC Highland ACCelerator the Dr. Richard M. Rhodes ACCelerator and the naming rights to a $50,000 endowment scholarship donated by the ACC Foundation.

After serving in the role for 12 years, Dr. Rhodes’ last day at the college will be Saturday, September 30. Since joining ACC as President/CEO in September 2011, Dr. Rhodes has cultivated a culture of innovation, collaboration, and transformation to put the college at the forefront of the future of higher education.

Several additional opportunities exist to say farewell to Dr. Rhodes, including a Riverbat Family and Friends Celebration on Thursday, September 28.

Say goodbye on social media with the hashtag #ACCproud and share your memories on the Dr. Rhodes Farewell Padlet wall.
