{"id":859,"date":"2021-09-09T10:56:30","date_gmt":"2021-09-09T16:56:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/infohub.austincc.edu\/shared-governance\/?p=859"},"modified":"2021-09-09T10:59:44","modified_gmt":"2021-09-09T16:59:44","slug":"acc-ni-partner-on-all-inclusive-engineering-scholarship-and-training-program","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/infohub.austincc.edu\/shared-governance\/blog\/2021\/09\/09\/acc-ni-partner-on-all-inclusive-engineering-scholarship-and-training-program\/","title":{"rendered":"ACC, NI partner on all-inclusive engineering scholarship and training program"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>In an effort to increase diversity in the technology industry, NI (formerly National Instruments) has partnered with Austin Community College District (ACC) to offer students an internship-to-employment track through the college\u2019s Career Scholars program.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The new NI Technical Scholar program at ACC includes an Engineering Opportunity Scholarship that covers the full cost of attendance. It also includes an immersive development program featuring:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>A technical skills bootcamp,&nbsp;<\/li><li>Mentoring from NI and ACC,&nbsp;<\/li><li>A full-time paid summer internship at NI, and&nbsp;<\/li><li>Part-time employment in NI\u2019s Product R&amp;D organization.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe are excited to team up with NI to expand ACC\u2019s Career Scholars program and lift the weight of paying for college to help underserved students build a rewarding career in the technology field,\u201d says ACC Chancellor Dr. Richard Rhodes. \u201cThis kind of work is what it takes to reimagine higher education and eliminate equity gaps, and it\u2019s what we mean when we say ACC is for everyone. Together, ACC and NI are creating new opportunity with critical hands-on training and mentorship at NI. We are excited to watch more students thrive through this program.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The inaugural cohort will start in September 2021 with the first expected graduation in May 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>ACC launched its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.austincc.edu\/students\/career-scholars\">Career Scholars program<\/a> in fall 2020 with two inaugural cohorts \u2014 one for eligible graduating high school seniors and the other for adult learners. The program was developed to better support underserved communities in the region and provide pathways for students to earn a workforce certificate or degree and enter into a promising, high-demand career.
