{"id":673,"date":"2021-07-08T12:28:20","date_gmt":"2021-07-08T18:28:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/infohub.austincc.edu\/shared-governance\/?p=673"},"modified":"2021-07-08T12:55:05","modified_gmt":"2021-07-08T18:55:05","slug":"qm-certified-courses-at-acc-jumps-to-11","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/infohub.austincc.edu\/shared-governance\/blog\/2021\/07\/08\/qm-certified-courses-at-acc-jumps-to-11\/","title":{"rendered":"Number of QM-Certified Courses at ACC Jumps to 11"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/infohub.austincc.edu\/shared-governance\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2021\/07\/QM-300x191-1.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-676\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Austin Community College District (ACC) continues its work to develop high-quality online learning programs. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.austincc.edu\/news\/2020\/10\/fourth-acc-course-receives-national-qm-certification\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Since fall 2020<\/a>, seven additional courses received national <a href=\"https:\/\/www.qualitymatters.org\/node\/13\">Quality Matters (QM) certification<\/a>, bringing the college\u2019s total to 11 QM-certified courses.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;Quality Matters certification signifies to the students that the course meets rigorous standards and best practices in online education,\u201d says Dr. Gretchen Riehl, ACC\u2019s associate vice president of Workforce Education. \u201cI am proud of the work done by our faculty to meet these criteria in order to serve our students better.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The following courses received QM certification in the last few months:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>HPRS 1171 &#8211; Student Success for Health Professional&nbsp;<\/li><li>PSYC 2301 &#8211; Introduction to Psychology&nbsp;<\/li><li>HPRS 2301 &#8211; Pathophysiology&nbsp;<\/li><li>BIOL1408 &#8211; Biology I for Non-Science Majors&nbsp;<\/li><li>HMSY 1337 &#8211; Introduction to Homeland Security<\/li><li>PHRA 1243 &#8211; Pharmacy Technician Certification Review&nbsp;<\/li><li>MLAB 1101 &#8211; Introduction to Clinical Laboratory Science<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All of the courses in ACC\u2019s Allied Health Sciences department have now been approved, making it the <strong>only<\/strong> department at the college that is fully QM approved.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With the approval of HMSY 1337, ACC\u2019s Public and Social Services division has received its <strong>first<\/strong> national QM certification.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Six other courses also have been submitted for QM certification and are now under review.
