Austin Community College District<\/strong> joined the Greater Austin Chamber of Commerce in Washington, D.C., on their annual Federal Advocacy trip. The college joined more than 60 leaders to advocate for issues impacting Central Texas, like workforce performance, job growth, and innovation. ACC\u2019s Make It Center was the topic of a Learning Abstract article published by the League for Innovation in the Community College. \u201cThe Make It Center: Career Exploration Today for Tomorrow<\/strong><\/a>\u201d was written by ACC Make It Center Director Dr. Janelle Green<\/strong>, ACCelerators & Strategic Initiatives Executive Dean Curtiss Stevens<\/strong>, and Student Engagement & Academic Success Associate Vice Chancellor Guillermo \u201cWillie\u201d Martinez<\/strong>. ACC’s Great Questions Seminar<\/strong> was mentioned in the Wall Street Journal in a June 9, 2023, Op Ed titled \u201cGreat Books Can Heal Our Divided Campuses\u201d by Andrew Delbanco, Alexander Hamilton Professor of American Studies at Columbia University and president of the Teagle Foundation. Austin Community College is featured alongside other institutions such as Purdue University, Vanderbilt University, and Stanford University as an example of leadership and innovation in general education. ACC Biotechnology Department Chair Linnea Fletcher<\/strong> was a featured guest on the Grow Everything podcast<\/strong><\/a>. Two ACC students placed in the 2022-2023 International Student Literary and Art competition sponsored by the League for Innovation in the Community College. Bailey Forman<\/strong> won third place in the International Student Art Awards<\/strong><\/a> for \u201cWere You Listening?\u201d and Shannon Williams<\/strong> won third place in the International Student Literary Awards<\/strong><\/a> – Poetry division for \u201cThe Next Morning in Fruita.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
