To submit news or suggestions, see the contact information below.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/infohub.austincc.edu\/shared-governance\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2022\/12\/December3CPicture-1024x588.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2862\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The following employees received a December Provost\u2019s 3Cs Shining Star Award at a special reception on Thursday, December 7, at San Gabriel Campus:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Chelsea Biggerstaff<\/strong>, Interim Manager, Faculty Development<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Naomi Garza<\/strong>, Manager, College &amp; High School Program Operations<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Dale Bunton<\/strong>, Senior Administrative Assistant<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Victor Sibaja-Molina<\/strong>, Manager, Instructional Media Production&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Tung Huynh<\/strong>, Senior Analyst, Enrollment Management<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Alejandra Polcik<\/strong>, Manager, Hispanic Outreach Projects<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Ayeesha Green<\/strong>, Student Money Management Office coordinator, recently became an Accredited Financial Counselor<strong><sup>\u00ae<\/sup><\/strong><strong><sup> <\/sup><\/strong>through the Association for Financial Counseling and Planning Education (AFCPE). AFCPE&#8217;s counseling and coaching certifications are the most respected in the field of financial counseling and education. Green completed extensive coursework, passed an exam, and documented 1,000 hours of providing personal financial counseling and coaching.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>ACC Radio-Televison-Film (RTF) chair and professor, <strong>Christian Raymond,<\/strong> and RTF associate professor <strong>John Moore<\/strong> shared their experience using Stornaway for interactive student films. Read the post <a href=\"https:\/\/www.stornaway.io\/interactive-filmmaking-students-at-austin-community-college\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>HERE<\/strong><\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Three ACC Massage Therapy students were each awarded a $5,000 scholarship from Massage Heights and the Zenoti Foundation. A total of $50,000 was distributed to 10 massage therapy students nationwide. It is the first time any continuing education student has received the scholarship in its history \u2014 and ACC has three. Congratulations to students <strong>Ashley Avalos, Marquisha Mcphail<\/strong>, and <strong>Quinnese Reese<\/strong>. TIPS is a volunteer-based organization that exists to advance innovations, ideas, and processes that make a difference in global health.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Austin NAACP President, Nelson Linder, hosted a conversation with <strong>ACC Trustee Dr. Nora De Hoyos Comstock <\/strong>and <strong>ACC Community Engagement Director Loretta Edelen<\/strong> focused on the recent ACC bond campaign. The interview was broadcast on ATX Soul Radio during a segment called \u201cAbove the Fray\u201d on October 25, 2022.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>ACC hosted a delegation of government and private sector medical officials as part of the U.S. Department of State&#8217;s International Visitor Leadership Program which fosters citizen-to-citizen diplomacy for emerging leaders. <strong>Health Sciences Dean Nina Almasy<\/strong> and <strong>ACC Regional Simulation Center Director<\/strong> <strong>Dr. Audra Lewis<\/strong> led the group on a tour of ACC Highland and the&nbsp; Health Sciences Simulation Center on December 8 and talked about the college\u2019s nursing program and the work of the community college to fill the continuing education needs of nurses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Earlier this semester, the <strong>ACC Employee Wellness Program<\/strong> was recognized at the 2022 Mayor\u2019s Health &amp; Fitness Awards ceremony. The program was recognized with the &#8216;Moving the Needle Workplace Award\u2019 in the Physical Activity category. The program also received the Mayor&#8217;s Health &amp; Fitness Council Workplace Partner Certification at the Gold level.
