Classes started Monday, August 22, 2022.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">ACC increases enrollments of new students<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There are more new faces on ACC campuses this semester. Preliminary data show a significant increase in new student enrollments at the college.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to registration reports, fall enrollments at ACC show new student enrollment is up 5% compared to fall 2021 \u2013\u2013 this includes enrollment among traditional and high school students. The college is seeing a dip in returning student enrollment.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cLike many other colleges across the nation, persistence among our returning students is down. There are several reasons for the drop. Some students are completing their programs and getting jobs faster. Most who aren\u2019t persisting, however, say it&#8217;s from the continued impacts of COVID-19,\u201d says Dr. Jenna Cullinane Hege, ACC vice chancellor of Research &amp; Analytics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Non-traditional programs growing but constrained&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Data show more students are seeking non-traditional college pathways. ACC\u2019s rapid training programs, like the college\u2019s Fast Track Career programs, are among the fastest-growing. These programs can earn someone an in-demand workforce credential in as little as 8-weeks.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Other areas of growth are in high-demand career fields in the region, such as Business, Skilled Trades, IT, and Arts &amp; Digital Media. But, growth in some other key areas is limited due to capacity constraints.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">ACC\u2019s new facilities at the Highland Campus are helping.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Programs in the Creative Arts Center are seeing big enrollment gains: <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.austincc.edu\/academic-and-career-programs\/areas-of-study\/arts-digital-media-and-communications\/music\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Music<\/strong><\/a> is up 31%, <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.austincc.edu\/academic-and-career-programs\/areas-of-study\/arts-digital-media-and-communications\/music-business-performance-and-technology\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Music Business, Performance &amp; Technology<\/strong><\/a> is up 24%, and <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.austincc.edu\/academic-and-career-programs\/areas-of-study\/arts-digital-media-and-communications\/radio-television-film\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Radio-Television-Film<\/strong><\/a> is up 9%.<\/li><li><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.austincc.edu\/academic-and-career-programs\/areas-of-study\/culinary-hospitality-and-tourism\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Culinary Arts and Hospitality<\/strong><\/a> are showing increases in enrollment as the service industry recovers in Central Texas.<\/li><li><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.austincc.edu\/academic-and-career-programs\/areas-of-study\/design-manufacturing-construction-and-applied-technologies\/advanced-manufacturing\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Manufacturing<\/strong><\/a> and <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.austincc.edu\/academic-and-career-programs\/areas-of-study\/design-manufacturing-construction-and-applied-technologies\/engineering-technology\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Engineering Technology<\/strong><\/a>, which have classes at the new IMPACT Lab and Manufacturing Academy, are up 9%.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Short semester courses still enrolling&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Registration remains open for students who need more time to enroll or want a faster learning experience. ACC offers 14-, 12-, and 8-week options to give students who are still working through the application and registration process more time to finish their steps and begin class on time. The college will be celebrating its 50th anniversary this year and next.
