{"id":1917,"date":"2022-07-08T10:32:30","date_gmt":"2022-07-08T16:32:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/infohub.austincc.edu\/shared-governance\/?p=1917"},"modified":"2022-07-08T10:32:31","modified_gmt":"2022-07-08T16:32:31","slug":"acc-impact-labs-first-company-takes-test-flight","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/infohub.austincc.edu\/shared-governance\/blog\/2022\/07\/08\/acc-impact-labs-first-company-takes-test-flight\/","title":{"rendered":"ACC IMPACT Lab\u2019s first company takes test flight"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The first company to take residence at ACC\u2019s<strong> <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.austincc.edu\/impactlab\"><strong>IMPACT Lab<\/strong><\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/zpryme.com\/\"><strong>Zpryme LLC<\/strong><\/a> (pronounced z-prime), held the first public flight of its advanced sensing drone on June 29, 2022, at ACC Highland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Zpryme\u2019s new drone is designed to provide cities, utilities, and communities with better responses and plans before, during, and after severe weather events.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIn the past, people were using helicopters to collect data during a natural disaster, but a lot of accidents would happen while they were working,\u201d says Sam Kodo, director of engineering technology at Zpryme. Kodo showcased the progress on the design of the advanced climate sensing drone outside of the IMPACT Lab.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Located on the ACC Highland Campus, the IMPACT Lab is an advanced manufacturing business incubator and training lab. For startup companies such as Zpryme, the lab provides specialized manufacturing facilities to develop prototypes and products.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Lab also serves as the home to the college\u2019s Advanced Manufacturing Academy, a high school dual credit program, and one student had the opportunity to work with Zpryme in the spring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The IMPACT Lab anticipates an official grand opening in October.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Zpryme plans to continue testing the prototype drone and start collecting sample data in the next quarter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">ABOUT ZPRYME LLC<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Zpryme LLC is a research, media, and events agency focused on energy and the first company to use space in ACC\u2019s manufacturing incubator.
