{"id":1122,"date":"2021-11-08T12:10:16","date_gmt":"2021-11-08T18:10:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/infohub.austincc.edu\/shared-governance\/?p=1122"},"modified":"2021-11-08T12:10:17","modified_gmt":"2021-11-08T18:10:17","slug":"announcing-our-new-provost-executive-vice-chancellor-academic-student-affairs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/infohub.austincc.edu\/shared-governance\/blog\/2021\/11\/08\/announcing-our-new-provost-executive-vice-chancellor-academic-student-affairs\/","title":{"rendered":"Announcing our New Provost\/Executive Vice Chancellor, Academic &#038; Student Affairs"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><em><strong>A Message From Dr. Rhodes<\/strong>:<\/em><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dear Riverbats,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I\u2019m delighted to provide you with this update on the search for ACC\u2019s next Provost\/EVC of Academic &amp; Student Affairs which has concluded.\u00a0A thorough and inclusive search process, led by a remarkable and diverse team of\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.austincc.edu\/provost-search\/evc-provost-academic-and-student-affairs-search-committee\" target=\"_blank\">search committee members<\/a>\u00a0from across our institution, resulted in a truly impressive set of final candidates.\u00a0After in-person interviews with the final five candidates, Dr. Monique Umphrey emerged as the clear choice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dr. Umphrey\u2019s unique range and depth of experience with complex higher education systems, community colleges specifically, equity-minded reform, and large-scale project management\/implementation planning make her an outstanding choice as our next Provost.\u00a0She brings faculty experience and expertise in systems changes, and she brings a tested commitment to building equitable and inclusive environments of teaching and learning excellence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In her current role at Houston Community College, Dr. Umphrey is responsible for the overall development of academic policy, educational planning, and new program development for three Centers of Excellence. With a background in operations and a proven track record of developing and sustaining strong employer and community partnerships, Dr. Umphrey brings the right combination of expertise for ACC as we work toward the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addition to being immensely qualified, Dr. Umphrey shares ACC\u2019s passion for student success and commitment to strengthening our culture of collaboration, connection, and caring.\u00a0She is ready to roll up her sleeves and join our wonderful community in the work ahead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the coming weeks and months, several opportunities will be provided for you to learn more about our new Provost.\u00a0We will also host a meet-and-greet for you to get to know her and for Dr. Umphrey to get to know our amazing Riverbat community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I\u2019d like to close here by again recognizing the dedication and care shown by the search committee members who were incredibly diligent and thorough in their work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Please join me in welcoming Dr. Monique Umphrey as Austin Community College\u2019s new Provost.\u00a0We will keep you posted on a start date and opportunities for you to get acquainted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Richard M.
