{"id":1082,"date":"2021-11-02T15:23:03","date_gmt":"2021-11-02T21:23:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/infohub.austincc.edu\/shared-governance\/?p=1082"},"modified":"2021-11-02T15:23:06","modified_gmt":"2021-11-02T21:23:06","slug":"learn-more-about-accs-role-in-the-make-it-movement","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/infohub.austincc.edu\/shared-governance\/blog\/2021\/11\/02\/learn-more-about-accs-role-in-the-make-it-movement\/","title":{"rendered":"Learn more about ACC\u2019s Role in the Make It Movement"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Austin Community College District (ACC) has partnered with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.makeitmovement.org\/\">MakeItMovement.org<\/a> to help connect young people with high-paying, high-skilled careers through marketing efforts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">ACC Chancellor Dr. Richard Rhodes co-wrote an opinion piece with Roy Spence, chairman of GSD&amp;M advertising and founder of MakeItMovement.org, that appeared in the October 31, 2021, edition of the Austin American-Statesman.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The effort is part of the Chancellor&#8217;s Priorities to reduce equity gaps and help Central Texans get back to work and started on a career path.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As part of the partnership, the college is creating <a href=\"https:\/\/infohub.austincc.edu\/shared-governance\/happening-now\/acc-creating-new-make-it-center-at-highland\/\">an innovative and interactive career exploration center<\/a> inside ACC Highland Campus called the Make It Center to inspire middle and high school students and adults to consider college on the path to a future career.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Watch for more details about the Center in the coming months and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.statesman.com\/story\/opinion\/columns\/your-voice\/2021\/10\/31\/opinion-using-marketing-connect-young-people-higher-paying-careers\/6184034001\/\">read the full Statesman Op-Ed here<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Austin Community College District (ACC) has partnered with MakeItMovement.org to help connect young people with high-paying, high-skilled careers through marketing efforts.
