Registration is now open for the second annual Riverbat Paddle Battle supporting Austin Community College District (ACC) student scholarships in fall 2021.

Co-hosted by ACC and American Constructors, this year’s Riverbat Paddle Battle is a virtual kayak race on Lady Bird Lake benefiting the Austin Community College Foundation.

“A scholarship does more than ease the financial burden of covering tuition and textbooks, it eases the emotional burden as well. College can be stressful enough, and the opportunity for a student to not have the added stress of wondering how they will pay for college can make all the difference,” says Sophia Monetti, ACC student and scholarship recipient. “Speaking from personal experience, not only is it easier to stay on track and take a full-time course load with a scholarship backing you, but I have also felt the added drive and motivation to do my absolute best because I know that there is someone out there who has personally invested in ME and MY future.”

Registrants receive a full-day pass to paddle at Rowing Dock and race at their own convenience. The pass is valid for up to six months; however, for the chance to win a prize pack and be recognized as one of our top finishers, the participant must record their time between September 25 through October 25.

The virtual race features three course options for every skill level:

  • 2-mile intermediate course
  • 1-mile novice course
  • 500-yard kids’ course

The top finisher for each course length will receive a special prize package by mail.

All proceeds from the event will go to meet ACC’s growing student needs by providing scholarships, purchasing equipment used to train students, and funding important student support positions.
