Austin Community College (ACC) will celebrate National Library Week from Monday, April 20, through Friday, April 24. This year’s theme, Find Your Joy, highlights the many ways ACC Libraries support discovery, connection, and student success across the District.
ACC Libraries provide spaces where students can explore their potential, access essential resources, and find a place to focus and recharge. These experiences are made possible by library employees who support students, faculty, and staff every day, both in public-facing roles and behind the scenes.
“No two ACC libraries are the same, and that’s exactly the point. Each one reflects its students, its community, its team. National Library Week is my chance to celebrate the joy that shows up in every single one of those spaces,” said Dr. Keri Moczygemba, Dean of Library Services.
National Library Week begins with Right to Read Day, recognizing the importance of equitable access to information and the freedom to explore ideas. Throughout the week, ACC will also celebrate the contributions of library employees and the impact of library services across campuses. All campus libraries will host activities tied to daily themes. Highlights include:
- Joy Map: The shared space for the week is live via this Padlet. Students, faculty, staff, and library employees are all invited to add notes and photos about what brings them joy at the library.
- Side Quest Bookmarks: Pick up a bookmark at your campus library desk and collect stamps all week for each activity you complete. Bring it back on Friday to wrap up your side quest.
- Books That Changed My Life: Stop by your campus library to check out the titles chosen by library employees and others at ACC, including spots to suggest your own favorites.
- School Supply Drive: Donation bins are at every campus library all week. Pencils, notebooks, binders, and notebook paper are most needed.
Faculty, staff, and students are encouraged to participate throughout the week and to recognize the work of ACC Library employees. Celebrations will conclude on Friday with campus activities and sweet treats.
Check your campus library entrance each morning for that day’s theme and activities, or find everything on this guide.
